Grace Richardson | We Got CUREage

Grace's Student Visionaries of the Year Maryland Fundraiser

Dec 20, 2022

My name is Grace Richardson, and I am a sophomore at Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Maryland. Like most people, I unfortunately know many who are suffering from cancer, whether it is a family member or acquaintance who is battling the disease. Although the types and stages of cancer that people suffer from differ, I was shocked to find out that leukemia and lymphoma are two of the most prevalent types of cancers in children. Because I experienced a normal childhood filled with laughter and fun, I sympathize with the children whose early lives are spent in hospitals instead of playgrounds. However, my goal is to do more than just sympathize from a distance, I would like to make an impact to ensure a world without cancer.

That is why I chose to become a Team Member for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to build a better world- one without blood cancers.

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

  • Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics, and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients

  • Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.

  • Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

However, my team and I need YOUR help in order to make a difference. Please consider joining this fight by making a donation. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible.

Thanks to your support, my efforts will help ensure this generation is the last to see cancer.

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you!

There is no greater pain than the loss of a daughter or son. Our prayers are for a cure to be found through the work of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Please thank the students for their fund raising.
