Hi, My name is Natalie Michael and I am a freshman at Notre Dame Preparatory School. I am working with Team Impact to help raise awarness and fundraise for cancer research. All the money raised will be going to help end blood cancers and to help save countless lives.

The reason I joined this campaign is because cancer has been something that has impacted several members of my family. In February of 2004 my grandmother was diagnosed with an aggressive oral cancer. She and my mom were determined to fight, so one day she could meet her grandchildren. Fortunately it was caught at an early stage and she was able to make a full recovery after surgery.  Even though I wasn't alive then, hearing her story and knowing that I might have not been able to know her, has had a great impact on me.

On my fathers side of the family several members have been diagnosed with colon cancer. Sadly my dad lost his beloved uncle to colon cancer in 2001. Hearing my father tell us about him and his fight inspired me even more to patricipate in this campaign. 

These stories have inspired me to pursue a career in medicine. I have joined Women in Medicine at NDP and hope to begin this pathway in these next three years. It is my hope that I can live a life that helps to save the lives of others. 

Team Impacts goal is to raise $100,000 that will go to cancer reasearch. We are excited to kick off this campaign that will begin on February 5th through March 26th!
