My Story

Jan 14, 2022

I was diagnosed with B-Lymphoblastic Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in late December of 2018. Just a few days before Christmas, I visited my oncologist for the first time and was told that my condition was stable enough that I would not have to spend Christmas in the hospital. However, the very next day I was admitted to begin treatment. From first getting my port surgery to starting rounds of oral medication and getting constant chemo, I was shoved into this new and scary reality of mine. I will forever be thankful for my family and loved ones who helped me get through this tough time.

Fast forward 3 years and here I am in 2022 approaching the one year anniversary of the end of my treatment! I am so very thankful to my oncologist Dr. W, and my favorite nurse practitioners Shelby and Beth for giving me the best care across all this time. It seems surreal but I did it—I’m a survivor! And now I want to give back.

With this campaign, I hope to support others who have had similar journeys to mine and inspire the many of us that are touched by cancer. Help me spread the word and be a part of the effort to beat blood cancer!!

Jinecia's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Nov 29, 2021

I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. Will you help me earn that title?

As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.

Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.

We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!

All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org

Jinecia, the minute your mom told me your were diagnosed I knew you would handle this like a super star. You took every treatment without complaint and showed more strength than anyone I know through this whole process. On top of everything you had to deal with a global pandemic during your treatment. I admire your courage and bravery through this and every time I hear your story I'm impressed even more by you. You are meant to do great things in your life. Be proud of what you have survived and be even prouder of the positivity that you showed everyone throughout this.
