Dulce Ortiz | Vikings for a Cure

Dulce's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Feb 23, 2022

Hey Guys!

I just wanted to come on here and briefly thank all who have helped me with my campaign in any way. As a team member, team Vikings for a Cure takes this cause very seriously and truly benefit from any and everything you may provide.

That being said - there's still time if you were interested in helping! I still haven't reached my personal goal, but we're getting there!

Sending hugs to all!

Love Dulce <3

And We're Off!

Feb 05, 2022

We've made it to kickoff!!!! I truly hope all of you find this journey as wonderful and fun as I anticipate it to be. All donations are greatly appreciated. I mean it from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much. Now, let's get this party started!

Welcome!

Jan 30, 2022

Greetings, All!

We are less than a week away from kickoff and I’d just like to briefly introduce myself as well as mention my goals before it all gets crazy!

My name is Dulce Ortiz. I am 18 years old and am a senior at St. John’s Catholic Prep in Frederick, MD. While college is just months away, I am still unsure of where I plan to attend in hopes to pursue my criminology degree. I love many things, including my two dogs, coffee, music, sunsets, and traveling. I am of  Guatemalan heritage, which defines much of who I am.

At school, I am involved in many activities, including being the leader of the Student Ambassador program, vice president of the National Art Honors Society, and the secretary of the National Honors Society. I partake in many clubs and used to play soccer. I have two stable jobs and surprisingly, still have time to pursue things I enjoy, like completing my lifetime bucket list and doing different community service activities. Overall, I see myself as very involved and I wouldn’t change that for anything.

I volunteered to participate in the Students of the Year program in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for many reasons. The most important, though, would be because I enjoy trying new things and helping out my community. Leukemia and Lymphoma have not been present in my household, but cancer has.  I can tell you that it is a pain, especially to see someone so close go through so much. If there could be any way that I could lessen the pain, i’d do it. I feel that this program is a close way to make up for that. I joined ‘Vikings for A Cure’ to not only raise money, but bring awareness of the multiple beneficial sources fighting to end cancer. Overall, this may be the biggest challenge I have put myself to - and I aspire to do this to the best of my abilities.

To all who plan on donating or spreading awareness, thank you. Your support means so much. I truly hope you join me and my team on this journey to benefit a good cause!

With all the love, I send my best wishes of luck and support. I hope to see you all at kickoff!

Dulce's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Feb 06, 2022

I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks.

As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.

Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.

We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!

All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org
