In Loving Memory of Jimmy Myrick Jr.

Apr 04, 2019

Jimmy Myrick, Jr. passed away on February 12, 2016, at the age of 33 after a four year battle with Leukemia.  Although I never met Jimmy, I have grown to know him through his parents, Mrs. Sharon and Mr. Jimmy Myrick Sr. As Area Directors of Special Olympics Upper Shore, I met the Myricks when I first became a Unified Sports Partner for golf, basketball, and swimming.  They work tirelessly to keep Jimmy's memory alive and continue to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as well as Special Olympics Maryland.

Please consider a donation to LLS in Jimmy's memory.  Funds raised through this campaign will help support extensive programs of research, patient aid, and education.

In Loving Memory of Bob McKay

Apr 04, 2019

A heartfelt message from a friend, Meredith Otmishi, in our Saints Peter and Paul family.  LLS has affected so many of those in my day to day life, more than I could have ever imagined!

"Sharing some photos of my dad, Bob McKay.  He began his career as a HS math teacher.  While working summers in construction, he grew a love for it, and ultimately bought his own concrete company, 4-Star Concrete in Versailles, OH. After 10 years of successfully building and growing it with his partners, and being offered a regional role with an international cement company, he and my mom sold their shares.  I mostly remember the kind, hard-working man who built our own home, business, and life for the family he loved so dearly.  My life forever changed when my dad, our rock, was diagnosed with stage 4 mantle cell lymphoma.  Almost 12 years have passed since his passing, just two months after his 60th birthday, and I can promise you, not a day goes by that I don't talk to him or see something that reminds me of his wonderful spirit and zest for life.

The months after his passing are a blur.  Arman was just a baby, and I was a new stay at home mom, and Peyman was a resident working crazy shifts.  To help me cope, I joined the local LLS Society in Louisville, KY and quickly found friends interested in participating in the Team in Training marathon.  I was able to raise over $7,000 in a couple of month from friends and family and trained and ran the race in his honor, surrounded by my loving Mom, sisters, son, and husband."

Lovingly remembered by his daughter, Meredith!
