LLS is committed to doing more for blood cancer patients and families than any organization in the world. LLS’s signature fundraising campaigns drive critical support for its mission, including a nearly $1.3 billion investment in cutting edge cancer research worldwide since it was founded in 1949. Since the 1960s, survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled, or even quadrupled.

About 80% of all children diagnosed with cancer develop a chronic health condition from their treatment. LLS's children's initiative drastically increases the funds going towards finding different treatments for children fighting blood cancer.

Every facet of LLS’s mission – research, education and support, and policy and advocacy – work in harmony to put blood cancer patients and their families first. LLS has helped millions impacted by cancer throughout its more than 70-year history, even funding breakthrough blood cancer research to advance lifesaving treatments and cures that is now helping patients with other cancers and diseases. Hi, my name is Hemani Kumar and I am so excited to be a candidate for Team Fly4ACure! I am a sophomore at Leonardtown High School and love playing soccer, running track, and spending time with my friends and family. I live with my parents, grandparents, and brother. As vice president of my class, I enjoy working with my community.

Cancer has impacted millions of lives globally and there are so many different motives in joining the fight against cancer. My grandmother is a cancer survivor and I joined the Students of the Year campaign for her along with the individuals in my community that lost their fight with cancer.
