You've landed on Fund the Future's website, a team based in Natick, Massachusetts!

My name is Ben Landry, I'm a senior at Natick High School, and I am proud to have been nominated this year as a candidate for LLS' Student Visionaries of the Year campaign. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation by April 2nd, 2023- I firmly believe that every small contribution adds together to make a big difference; the battle against blood cancer is one that can not be fought alone. With your generous contribution to LLS, you are funding top-notch cancer treatments and research, joining a global community of blood cancer warriors, and truly funding the future.

What is Student Visionaries of the Year (SVOY)?

SVOY is a 7-week long, philanthropic fundraising campaign, where student-led teams from across the US compete to raise money in the fight against blood cancer. All funds go towards advancing LLS' non-profit missions, including:

  • Funding cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics, and personalized medicine
  • Providing free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including one-on-one care, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more
  • Mobilizing thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

Why am I part of this campaign?

I am running this year because cancer hits particularly close to home for me. My uncle is currently battling Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, and many of my other family members have battled cancer- including both of my grandmothers and my grandfather. Their battles serve as further motivation for my work, and also as unfortunate reminders that cancer can afflict the people you care most about.

I am also running because I am passionate about leadership and advocacy. I am currently one of 16 members of the MA State Senate President’s Youth Advisory Council, where I have authored legislation adopting provisions of the DIVERSE Act, and will present my legislation to the State Senate President in late April. My involvement with LLS has inspired me to continue to drive policy changes relating to equity and accessibility within the medical field.
