Disha Nayak | An Answer for Cancer

Disha's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 31, 2022

Welcome To My Fundraising Page!

Hello! My name is Disha Nayak and I am a high schooler from Canton, Massachusetts. I am working with a team of other high schoolers in my community to raise money in honor of those battling or in remission from various forms of blood cancer through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Students of the Year program. I am deeply honored to have been chosen as a candidate for this program as I have a close personal connection to cancer and strongly believe that nobody should be put through this pain. For seven weeks, I will be working towards my mission to not only raise money to support patients but to also bring attention to blood cancers, like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.

But in order to help our patients, we need YOUR help! Please join us in supporting the LLS by making a donation towards our fundraising campaign.

Your donation would save the lives of patients like Kyle, our Honored Hero. On May 27th, 2019, Kyle was diagnosed with Stage 4 Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma and received his first round of chemotherapy. Following 6 months of grueling treatment, Kyle reached remission in November of the same year. Unfortunately, as is common with Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma, Kyle’s cancer soon came back. But never one to back down, Kyle endured more chemo and received a bone marrow transplant at Boston’s Children’s Hospital in August of 2020. Kyle is a warrior and in his own words, “warriors don't win every battle, but warriors will always be ready to fight the next.”

Thanks to the support from people like you, our efforts, will help fund the therapies and treatments that are vital for our fighters, and save lives today. LLS’s continued advancements over the years are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They’re even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic, and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are now also being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Multiple Sclerosis. We really are changing the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax-deductible. They’ll not only support LLS research but will go back directly to the patients through patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well. Your donation would save many lives and touch even more hearts!

Please reach out to us if you have any questions or are looking for other ways to get involved! We would also highly appreciate it if you could pass this information on to anyone who would be interested in supporting this cause. Thank you!

Every 3 minutes, someone in the United States is diagnosed with a blood cancer, and every 9 minutes, someone dies of one, but together we can change that.

On behalf of blood cancer patients, families, and caregivers everywhere, I thank you for your support!
