Students of the Year Boston
Catherine Puyat | Catherine Puyat's Team
I’m honored to share that I have been nominated as a candidate for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Students of the Year program, seven-week leadership development and fundraising program. I am writing to you today to ask for your support for my campaign and help my team and me reach our fundraising goal of $50,000. With your help, LLS is able to fund research that could save and improve the lives of many.
Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, LLS helped advance 14 of the 17 blood cancer treatment options approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2020. Since 2017, LLS helped advance more than 85% of FDA-approved blood cancer treatment options.
My Team’s efforts will honor Kyle Burgos, age 17, from Providence, RI. On May 27th, 2019 Kyle was diagnosed with stage with stage 4 Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma and received his first round of chemotherapy. Following 6 months of grueling treatment, Kyle reached remission in November of the same year. Unfortunately, as is common with Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma, Kyle’s cancer soon came back. But never one to back down, Kyle endured more chemo and received a bone marrow transplant at Boston’s Children’s Hospital in August of 2020. Kyle is a warrior and in his own words, “warriors don't win every battle, but warriors will always be ready to fight the next.”
Large or small, your contribution to this worthy effort is greatly appreciate
