I am so excited to be able to participate in the 2019 Students of the Year program for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Throughout this seven-week period, our team, Lymph Busters, is trying to raise the most money not only to win the competition but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens. Reaching our goal of $50,000 will allow us to fund a research grant in our Honored Hero's name!

Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. My grandfather who I was named after died because of leukemia three months before I was born. Thankfully when our Honored Hero, Bridget Kelly, was diagnosed with leukemia as a second grader, she was able to access the stem cell treatment she needs and has since gone into remission! Unfortunately, without LLS's funding for research and advocacy over the last 70 years Bridget might not be where she is today.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
