I am honored to participate in the 2022 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

I am proud to be raising critical dollars in honor of a local patient who is currently in remission from blood cancer. At a very young age, Nicholas was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Now, he is 7 years old and living his best life cancer free!

Another reason why I am determined to raise money is because many people I know and love have dealt with cancer, one in particular being my amazing dad. He was diagnosed with Leukemia when he was around my age and luckily fought through. I want, in any way I can, to contribute to finding a cure and making sure everyone diagnosed can have this same happy ending.

Each dollar is a vote. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student(s) of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the money but also to bring attention to blood cancers such as Leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens. My personal goal is to raise $2,500 for our team’s $110,000 goal.

Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled, or even quadrupled. Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but patients with other cancers and serious diseases as well. We are really changing the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They’ll not only support LLS-funded research, but will help provide critical information & support for patients and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
