Our names are Cameron Breier and Arman Dashti, and we are two Kentuckian high schoolers with a bold vision. That vision is a world free of Leukemia and Lymphoma, two diseases that claim too many lives every year. In 2020, we decided that instead of sitting around and waiting for change to happen, we were going to take it upon ourselves to join the fight. We have both been personally effected by cancer within the past 3 years. We have lost family members, neighbors and a few friends to this horrible disease. We currently have a teammate who is in remission after his tough fight with Lymphoma began 2 years ago.

On our mission to end the horrors of these diseases, we crossed paths with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a non-profit organization at the front lines of the battle against blood cancer. In 2021, we joined a fundraising team in the annual LLS Student of the Year Program. As part of this seven person team, we raised over $118,000 in only seven weeks. This was our first step on our thousand step journey and showed us that we, teenagers in Kentucky, can make a change in our communities and in our world. 

The next step in our journey starts now.

We, as the leaders of our new team Sticks for a Cure, have been nominated as co-candidates for the 2022 LLS Student of the Year fundraising campaign. Our team is made up of 9 high school friends making a difference in our community and the world. Approximately every 3 minutes, one person in the US is diagnosed with a blood cancer and that adds up to about 175,316 new cases of blood cancer a year. We are seeking donations from amazing people like you so we can bring that number down to zero.  Every donation, large or small, will lead our team one step closer to our new goal of raising $120,000, which will be used to fund research for Leukemia and Lymphoma treatments while providing the patients and their families with a higher quality of life.
