Dear friends and family, 

We are Ella Chafin and Kate Simek and are both juniors at Plainfield High School. Throughout this year of uncertainty and hardship, we were presented with the honor of joining a battle in assisting those who are affected by blood cancers. We were nominated to be a co-candidate team for the Student of the Year fundraising challenge through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). We are both beyond excited to help make a positive difference in the lives of patients and their families, as well as in the advancements of treatments. 

During this fundraiser, we have a campaign team that will be working with us towards a goal of raising $50,000 in only 7 weeks (January 20-March 11).

We both decided to do this after having watched our family members go through blood cancer battles. It is incredibly heartbreaking to watch a loved one struggle through this disease. We chose to accept our nominations for this campaign in hopes that it will provide relief to families going through cancer battles. Everyone has a cancer story. We hope that with our fundraising contributions, more people will have a remission story. 

Today you have an opportunity to make a change in someone's life and to make a difference in the work that the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is doing for people with cancer. Any contribution you make will make a difference. Every single dollar donated is a vote for us in this competition, and a vote to cure cancer. We want to become the generation that cures cancer!
