Gracelynn's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 24, 2022

My name is Gracelynn Hyman, and I am a sophomore at Fishers High School. Back in June, I was given the opportunity of a lifetime. I was nominated for Students of the Year, through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I could not be more honored to join the battle in helping those living with blood cancers. Through this program, I am not only getting the chance to be a part of something bigger than myself, but I am truly able to make a difference in the lives of people and families across the nation. I am so grateful to lead my campaign team and work towards my goal in seven weeks. (January 20th to March 11th.) Last year's winner raised over $136,000 & I hope to break that record!

Six months ago, when I first started working on my campaign, I didn’t realize how much of a connection I had with blood cancer. It’s too easy to look past what doesn’t affect you. However, when you make that choice to stop and listen, it can be truly life changing. To hear the amount of people who I have known, even for most of my life, that have, or have had a blood cancer, truly and utterly gave me a wakeup call. Just because it isn’t regularly talked about, doesn’t mean it isn’t real. Every three minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer, and it remains the most diagnosed cancer in children. Through Students of the Year, I have the opportunity to fight alongside those affected in search for a cure.

I am writing today to ask for YOUR SUPPORT! I have been working incredibly hard, and I have until March 11th to reach my fundraising goal. Every dollar counts. I am asking you to join me in this campaign in honor of those who have been affected by blood cancer. LLS’s work is changing the lives of 1.2 million Americans living with a blood cancer, and you could easily be a part of that change.

All donations are very much appreciated, and all of the money raised goes straight towards finding a cure and supporting those families in need. Whether you have or know of a business that might be interested in a sponsorship, or you have the ability to personally donate, I appreciate you. Thank you in advance for your generous donation to my campaign and thank you for being a part of the generation that cures cancer.

I hope you can join me in this fight.
