I am honored to participate as a team member for the 2020 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. 

I decided to participate this year because this has affected me personally, as my grandmother was diagnosed with Lymphoma two years ago. While watching her battle through this disease, I have come to understand how horrible Lymphoma is. However, I have also come to understand the remarkable strides that have been made in the last two decades in finding a cure. With these advanced medical treatments, my grandmother is now in remission. She now can live a normal life. The process she went through has inspired me to help others afflicted with Leukemia and Lymphoma. With the remarkable progress that has been made with treatments, I am convinced that in the coming years others will not have to face these terrible illnesses, that a cure will be found. I'm excited to be involved in the search for that solution and I am doing it in honor of my grandmother, Ann Hill.
