Faye Alden | Faye Alden's Campaign Team

Welcome to Faye Alden's SOY Fundraising Page!

Jan 12, 2020

In October of 2018, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She went through multiple major surgeries, 12 weeks of harsh chemo therapy, painful medical tests, full hair loss, her nails falling off and many other physical and emotional struggles. This was all because of 7mm section of invasive cancer. While she is now cancer-free, this was a very hard time for my family and I. While breast cancer is not blood cancer, the groundbreaking drugs and treatments developed for blood cancers have crossed over to numerous other cancers and diseases, such as the one most important to me being breast cancer.

Therefore, I am honored to participate as a canidate for the 2020 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am proud to support by raising critical dollars in honor of every patient who is currently battling or is in remission from a blood cancer. Each dollar is a vote.

The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.

Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.

Please visit our website often and bring friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!

Your mom is an inspiration. She is a strong women who clearly has raised a strong leader! Our niece had Leukemia when she was only one. We didn't think she would make it and then she had a bone marrow transplant that saved her. She is now a 22 year old college graduate, and living a wonderful life! Keep doing what you are doing, it really does make a difference!

Faye, I am honored to contribute on behalf of your mother, Amanda, you, and one of my best friends, Rita Scott, who did not survive this cancer. I am certain that you would be an outstanding Student of the Year for the LLS Society; however, you are already outstanding by virtue of loving your Mom so much and continuing to support her by reaching out to your friends and family to fight the fight. You are definitely an Alden! Love to you and your family.
