Students of the Year Chicago

Bryn Schneider | Bryn for the Win

Welcome to Bryn Schneider's SOY Fundraising Page!

Jan 20, 2020

Hi my name is Bryn Schneider and I am a childhood cancer survivor. In early 2016, when I was only 12 years old, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The next 2 and a half years of my life were centered around chemotherapy, radiation and doctors appointments when those years should have been centered around school and my friends. I am participating in the Students of the Year program to ensure no child or teenager ever has to hear the words "you have cancer."

This is why I am honored to participate as a member for the 2020 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student of the Year. I am proud to support this organization and am raising critical dollars to help save people's lives. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens. Even though Leukemia is the most common form, some of the current chemotherapy protocol for childhood Leukemia treatment is the same as it was 40 years ago!! The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society hopes to change that by helping fund research for new chemotherapies and drug trials. We really are changing the face of blood cancer!

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need. Please visit our website to donate and tell friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!
