Hi, this is Ella Heyer. This year I'm running to be the top fundraising candidate in the 2022 Students of the Year campaign put on by The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).  Did you know, every three minutes someone in the U.S. is diagnosed with blood cancer, and every nine minutes someone in the U.S. dies from blood cancer! 

I’ve had the honor of getting to know Ainsley who is the 2022 Honored Hero for the Students of the Year campaign. Ainsley was diagnosed with B-cell leukemia when she was only 2 years old, and she is still fighting this terrible disease. Her story is not much different from many others impacted by blood-related cancers. She has remained strong while fighting cancer, but others aren't as lucky as Ainsley. 

To help all those impacted by forms of blood cancer, I have established a goal to raise $60,000 during the LLS campaign which starts January 20th and ends March 10th. I would really appreciate your support with a donation and/or learning more about different types of blood cancer. The money that is raised will go to helping children like Ainsley and their families. Money raised has aided research and medical advancement. 

The percentage of survivors that had leukemia has gone up by 21% from 1990-2016. A donation will continue to help support families similar to Ainsley with their medical bills as well as continuing cancer research and ultimately finding a cure.  If you are unable to donate at this time but feel compelled to help, there are many other ways you can support this campaign! A great example may be donating items for auction at the Grand Finale, which is a culminating event at the end of the fundraising campaign.  Even spreading the word or sharing my information with others on social media would make a huge difference.  I will leave links to my website where you can donate as well as the LLS website where you can learn more. As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
 
Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
 
We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
