Every 3 minutes a person is diagnosed with blood cancer and every 9 minutes a person dies due to blood cancer. Every 3 minutes a person’s life is changed dramatically because of their diagnosis and so does the lives of the people around them. All the money we raise will help the research, blood cancer patients and their families with many costs that have come up with this illness, such as hospital bills, travel, meals, missing work, and treatments/medications that aren’t covered by insurance. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society strives to fight this, and so do we as a team. Let’s do this together, let’s fight cancer together!
I thank you in advance for partnering with a campaign so close to my heart.

Welcome to Team Siri's SOY Fundraising Page!
Dear Family and Friends,
My name is Siri and I am a Junior from Johnston High School, Iowa. I am honored to be nominated as a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2020 Student of the Year Campaign.
The Student of the Year campaign is a seven-week fundraising competition to raise money to support LLS. The Mission of LLS is to find a cure for blood cancers and improve the quality of life of patients and their families through research, access to drugs, and advocacy. I am excited to be taking this challenge and doing my part to make a difference supporting a cause that is bigger than myself. With your support, we hope to make blood cancers a thing of past!
I am passionate about this campaign because in 2013, my favorite teacher, Madhavi Kapur (Adi) was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and lost her fight on Jun 3, 2016. Adi loved kids and teaching. She spent 28 years of her life building up an amazing legacy. I was fortunate to be her student since I was 6 years old. She was my role model and still continues to be. Although her death seeply pains me, it also motivates me to fight so that others don't go through the same pain. I want to spread awareness globally and raise as many funds as we can to help fight cancer.
Our honored hero, Lucy Almeida is 2 years old from Grimes, she was diagnosed with Be-Cell All Leukemia in November 2018. She just came a few days before Christmas from hosptial. Sje has at least 2.5 years treatment plan, including multiple hospital admittances, spinal procedures, chemotherapy treatments, steroids, etc. as she works to beat this awsul disease.
The tenacity and courage of these two strong people whom I am truly grateful for have inspired me to become an advocate for finding a cure for cancer.
You can help me by making a 100% tax-deductible donation below from January 16th to March 5th.
Over a million Americans are living with blood cancer and every three minutes someone is diagnosed. Every nine minutes, someone dies from blood cancer. It doesn’t have to be like this. Every dollar is a step closer to finding the cure. Every dollar counts. Every dollar I raise goes directly to LLS in support of its longstanding mission.
Aside from donations, we would love to hear from you or someone you know who would be willing to donate goods or services for auction items, sponsorships, donation matching opportunities, tickets/tables to the Grand Finale on Thursday, March 5th from 7 PM to 9 PM at the Forte Banquet & Conference Center in Des Moines, Iowa, or other possible fundraising opportunities.
Thank you in advance for supporting Team Siri. I am looking forward to sharing my journey for the next 7 weeks through our Facebook page @TeamSiriLLS and seeing the possibilities of my team making an impact on this terrible disease. On behalf of all blood cancer patients and families everywhere, thank you so much for your love and support!
