Students of the Year Iowa
Sky Mottet | Sky's the Limit's Campaign Team
Welcome to Sky Mottet's SOY Fundraising Page!
My name is Sky Mottet. I am a freshman at Southeast Polk High School. Through school I am a part of Rhythamettes which is our dance team. I love performing with all of my friends at football and basketball games. I also train in ballet and all otherk dance styles. I have been dancing since I was five. I train in ballet at my ballet school "School of Classical Ballet and Dance". I also travel around the world to dance conventions a lot. I love getting to take classes and learn from choreographers who are big in the dance world! After graduation I want to go to the University of Iowa. I don't know for sure what I will major in yet, but I would like to go into the medical field. I also love dancing and want to be a professional dancer/ballerina, so I want to audition to be a part of the Iowa Dance Team. One dream job I really would love is to be a professional ballerina in some sort of ballet company. It would be amazing to be dancing alongside amazing dancers and to be able to share that on the stage.
I am running as Student of the Year because I love helping for a good cause. Being able to be a part of something that is very special to people is amazing. Not only am I happy as I am raising a lot of money, but to all the people that money is raised for, it makes them feel super special. I am most excited about meeting new people, new friends, and people who want the same thing as me, which is to raise money and awareness for LLS.
Some fun facts about me, I was on NBC's World of Dance Season 2 with my group "Iowa Girlz", I danced with Justin Bieber at his concert in Des Moines, Iowa, my favorite food is fettucine alfredo, and I have been to 18 states.
I am honored to participate for the 2019 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am proud to raise critical dollars in honor of a young patient hero who is currently battling a blood cancer. Each dollar is a vote. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.
Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
Please visit our website often and bring friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!
