As I mentioned in my letter I am fundraising in honor of my uncle, Steve, who I have watched beat Leukemia over the past four years. Without the amazing research and technology that LLS funds, he may not have had such a successful stem-cell transplant. Many of my family members and friends' parents have passed due to various types of cancers, but LLS gives me hope for the future.

A positive in this experience is that Steve moved from Singapore to a mile away for his treatment at UCSF and now I get to spend lots of time with him including every Christmas.

It’s an honor to be a part of such an outstanding group of fellow students, but an even larger honor to be able to work for the patients, survivors, and their families with LLS.
