Tiago Tremmel's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Mar 31, 2022

Greetings,

Welcome to my fundraising page. My name is Tiago Tremmel, and I am running for the Leukemia & Lymphoma - Students of the Year with my co-candidate and friend Aidan Landers. My great-grandma, Gerda Hannas, passed away from acute myeloid leukemia in 2016. She was a very loving person, the best baker/cook, a great card player, and always there to give warm hugs to her family members and friends. My co-candidate Aidan lost his dad to lymphoma when he was 5 years old. Our friend and teammate Kai has supported his dad Steve with his family through the pandemic battling Myelofibrosis and recovering from a bone marrow transplant. Of my six closest friends, three of us have been affected by blood cancer. Cancer affects our furry family members as well - our cat Buddy recently passed away from lymphoma, and our dog Patsy Cline has battled sarcomas and round cell tumors. Cancer affects us all.

I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), and I am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious Students of the Year title. Will you help me earn that title?

As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.

Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.

We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!

All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. Please check if your company matches donations. Donations support not only LLS research but also patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services.

Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org

With warm thanks,

Tiago Tremmel

The world needs more young minds that set out to make a difference. It is great to see you setting such a good example of this, and for such a great cause that hurts so many families every year. Great cause for so many! I miss my mother everyday (Gerda Hannas). She was a long term care nurse for many years and never had one patient that was diagnosed with Leukemia...and surprisingly, the one disease she never had to treat took her life. Great cause Tiago!

  • Forrest Hamil

My grandfather was recently diagnosed with AML Leukemia in the past few weeks; this is a cause that is dear to me, so thank you for all of the great work you are doing!!

  • Elaine Hill

My best friend's brother passed away of leukemia when we were 10 years old. I'm so glad that through many years of research, there are now many options available for treatment. My donation is in memory of Gary Higashioka, a little boy who loved climbing trees, swinging from ropes and playing baseball.
