I am running for Students of the Year because leukemia has impacted my life in so many ways. In 2017, I had just turned 11 and my 3 year old little brother, Leo, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). He quickly became very sick. 8 months later he lost his fight with cancer and passed away. This has been devastating for our family and something we struggle with daily. I cannot believe how many kids fight this fight every year. Many lose their battle just like my Leo. I would like to really give back by raising funds for life saving research. This will give many people, especially kids, more of a chance at surviving. I am excited for this opportunity to bring more awareness to very aggressive cancers and hopefully come up with more options than chemotherapy to help these kids fight. I know I am young, but I feel having Leo as my brother has made me mighty. I am prepared to take this on!
