Please meet Honored Hero Oliver, I wanted to share his story below in the words of his mother:

"November 5, 2018 was a day that changed our lives forever.  I heard the words no parent wants to hear from the E.R. doctor, "We think Oliver has Leukemia."  I met with the Pediatric Oncologist and thus began this journey.  Oliver was admitted to teh hospital and got a bone marrow biopsy the next morning.  He was officially diagnosed with acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).  Oliver got his prot and began treatment.

We had cought it early and were hopeful that after his first month of chemcotherapy (induction) he would be in remission.  Unfortunately, his next bone marrow biopsy showed he was not in remission.  Additional tests gave us a diagnosis of Philadelphia-Like ALL.  We were moved to the high risk teratment to begin consolidation.  These last couple of months have impacted us in ways I cannot describe.

Our lives have changed so much, but Oliver has been so strong and resilient.  His brother, Carson, has had to adjust and try to understand all of this.  We have been so blessed to have so much support from family, friends, school, church, my work, cub scouts, Oliver's team at Mercy, Friends of Kids with Cancer, LLS and so many others.  This has been an emotional roller coaster of a lifetime!

Every morning, I wake and try to wake up from this nightmare we now call our normal.  Then I look at Oliver's sweet face, and start the day.  The hardest part as a mohter is seeing my vibrant passionate, and outgoing 8 year old son miss out on the things in life he enjoyed the most.  As we near the end of this treatment phase, we are hoping and praying for remission at his next biopsy."

Please join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to my fundraising campaign for Student of the Year, LLS - Gateway Chapter.

My friend Ali was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia at 16. She had a long fight and lost many friends along the way. Last year, she ran for Student of the Year through LLS and I saw how her fundraising positively affected the search for a cure. After learning more about how the funds from LLS stay local and help with research and development of new drugs to help beat all types of cancers, I decided to participate in the LLS Student of the Year Campaign.  Through my campaign, I am also honoring Oliver, one of this years honored heroes. Oliver was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma in November and continues with chemotherapy with a goal of remission.  My goal is to help bring awareness to blood cancers and educate people on the need to find a cure so that no family has to endure the loss of a child. Please join me in my fundraising efforts.

All donations are greatly appreciated and tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org
