I have been given the amazing opportunity to be a part of the campaign team for my friend Ryan Anderson, who has been nominated as a candidate for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Students of the Year 2019. This is a seven-week fundraising competition to raise money in support of LLS starting

February 21^st, 2019 – April 12^th, 2019. As a part of Team Calvary Cancer Crushers, I will be working to help raise the funds necessary to benefit those who need them. I am asking my friends and family to help us assist the efforts of the LLS to find a cure for blood cancer.

My cousin, Campbell, was diagnosed with Philadelphia Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when she was in elementary school.  Thankfully, she’s in remission today!  Watching and hearing about her fight with cancer made me so proud of her and very thankful for the research that is being done to cure blood cancers. 

Every three minutes someone in the United States is diagnosed with a blood cancer. By donating to LLS you are helping their mission to help cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. Not only is LLS helping patients with blood cancers, but LLS is going beyond blood cancer. Of the 39 new cancer fighting drugs approved by the FDA in the past 10 years, 19 were initially developed for blood cancers, and many had funding from LLS. All 19 of these drugs show promise for treating other cancers and diseases including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers, Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and MS.
