Our Whys

Jan 27, 2022

I'm Martha Kate Morrison and I have decided to compete in this years Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Students of the year Campaign because blood cancer is so impactful on patients lifes. For me, it is the children diagnosed with cancer that don't have the opportunity to do the same things a child that's not battling a life-threatening disease may have. I have decided to run to make a difference in the community, and that difference comes from high-school students. LLS allows my generation to have a voice in society and enables me to learn leadership skills that will assist me in future college and job opportunities. I can not wait to be a part of the generation that finds the cure for Leukemia and Lymphoma, and a cure for all cancers!

I'm Catherine Blanchard and I am choosing to compete in this years Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Students of the year Campaign because it is an opportunity to show leadership in the community and give high school students a voice. In addition, I am running in memory of my grandmother who passsed away on Christmas Day in 2016. She fell victim to pancreatic cancer, however, finding a cure for blood cancer is a gateway to the cure for all other types of cancer. I am looking forward to seeing the positive impact of the 2022 LLS candidate class.

I'm Anna Bridget Shuford and I have decided to compete in this years Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Students of the Year Campaign beacuse it is an opportunity to make an impact in the fight against blood cancer. I wanted to do this campaign in memory of my Aunt Retta who passed away from cervical cancer a couple years back. Although it's not blood cancer, LLS has made an impact on bringing an awarness to any and all cancers. By doing this campaign I hope to make a differnce in the quality of life for patients and their families, and be apart of the generation that finds a cure for any cancer. I look foward to hopefully making an impact in someone's life and making my Aunt Retta proud.

Team's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Oct 29, 2021

I have signed up to save lives with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and am working to raise as much as possible over the next 7 weeks. Every dollar raised counts as one vote for my campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. Will you help me earn that title?

As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.

Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.

We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!

All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible. They'll not only support LLS research, but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate!

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org
