Students of the Year Atlanta

Welcome to Emma Pitts' SOY Fundraising Page!
I wanted to sincerely thank everyone for supporting my campaign for Students of the Year with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. As you know, I got involved with this campaign because my dad has leukemia, and he currently just got home from MD Anderson from an experimental treatment. The experimental treatment was amazingly made possible by the research founded from Leukemia and Lymphoma society and through the donations, they received like the one you gave.
Again thank you so much for everyone's support for our campaign and I am proud to announce that we have succeeded in RAISING $35,110 in the fight against cancer!

Eight years ago my father, Mickey Pitts, was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) which is a slow growing form of cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow. There is no cure and he is currently battling against CLL with some of the best treatments available at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas. He has been there for almost a month undergoing an experimental treatments. Since his diagnosis, our family has supported the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and united in prayer for his recovery. In 2019, I vowed to make a difference with the help of friends and family as a Students of the Year candidate.
This year, I was accepted to be a participant in the 2019 Students of the Year Campaign. I know my dad is excited that I want to make a difference not only for him, but for others suffering from leukemia! I, and 13 other high school students from Greater Atlanta Christian School, will compete in raising money and collectively achieving one common goal; making a difference in the battle against blood cancers.

Welcome to Emma Pitts' SOY Fundraising Page!
I am honored to participate in the 2019 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am proud to be raising critical dollars in honor of a young patient hero who is currently battling or is in remission from a blood cancer. Each dollar is a vote. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student(s) of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.
Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
Please visit our website often and bring friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!

Emma, I pulled up to a red light near AAC last weekend, and caught glimpse of someone in a car next to me I hadn't seen in a few years. As I honked and he looked my way, I saw that big wonderful smile I was so used to seeing from his face. Of course it was your dad, and his smile and great disposition on life reminded me of how special he is, and of the memories of time we have spent together over the years. I'm glad I can help with your cause, and I'm glad I had just a moment or two to re-acquaint with Mickey.
