Friends and Family,

I am extremely excited to announce that I have come across an amazing opportunity to promote and help a cause that I express deep passion for.  I am one of the many candidates for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Students of the Year Greater Lehigh Valley campaign!  

Students of the Year (SoY) is a seven week fundraising competition between students and student teams around the area to collect as much funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) as possible.  At the end of the campaign, all of the candidates will gather together and whoever has raised the most money for LLS will be named Student(s) of the Year!

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is a charity that has deeply affected my life and those around me.  While I know many friends and family members who have been affected by blood cancer, the person who sticks out most to me is my lifelong friend, Schyler Herman.  Schyler and I became friends in elementary school, and we had grown up together through the years.  In our freshman year, Schyler was diagnosed with AML Leukemia.  She was varsity goalkeeper for Pleasant Valley, and was even training with the Players Development Academy to become a future soccer star.  While she was tough on the field, she was tough off of it.  She battled through treatments and setbacks, inspiring others along the way. Unfortunately, she passed away thirteen months after her diagnosis.  The warrior that she was wanted to keep fighting, saying days before, “I’m still strong, I can do this.”

Together, we can continue Schyler’s fight, as well as over fifty thousand other lives that are taken each year by blood cancer.  My goal for this campaign is $70,000 and with your help I believe this goal can be achieved.
