Welcome to our fundraising page! :-)

Our names are Sophia Bretzik, Emily Reed, and Lincoln Capwell, and we have been granted the opportunity to be co-candidates for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) “Students of the Year” program. It is a seven-week fundraising campaign that engages teams of teenagers across the Lehigh Valley to raise money that will fund research and support for patients and their families. We are each seniors at Northampton Area High School, home of the Konkrete Kids! Thus, we call ourselves Team Kids for the Cure. Our current goal is to raise $12,000 between January 7th and February 27th, 2021, the duration of the campaign.

Each year, the Students of the Year program selects an “honored hero.” This is someone who is currently battling or in remission from blood cancer. Meet this year’s honored hero, 15-year-old, Jack Ohl. Before being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, Jack, like many boys his age, loved to play football. Cancer has stolen that from him, and it’s unlikely he will be playing anytime soon. From the day of diagnosis, the lives of kids like Jack are forever changed. Their families are burdened with daily uncertainties as they live from test-to-test. But sadly, not every warrior wins their battle. In fact, more than a third of blood cancer patients do not survive five years after diagnosis. This is what we are fighting for. We are fighting for a world where every cancer patient has access to the lifesaving treatments they need. We are fighting for a world where there is a cure.

But this is not something we can do alone. The success of this campaign depends on generous supporters like you. Would you contribute to the fight? Thanks to your support, our efforts, will help fund the therapies and treatments and help save lives today.

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible! They'll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well.

More about LLS:

LLS's continued advancements over the years, are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled.

And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.

We really are changing the face of blood cancer!

Please share our campaign with friends, families, or coworkers who would also like to donate! :-)

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere we thank you for your support!
