Why am I doing this?
Well, I am fundraising in honor of Jena Brodhead, a current teacher at our middle school, who was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and has been in remission since 2014. Mrs.Brodhead was treated with many chemo treatments, which are researched and funded by LLS. Mrs.Brodhead is one of my best friends. She has helped me through the toughest times and is someone that I know is always there for me. Mrs.Brodhead is a person in my life that knows how I am feeling before I know how I am feeling and that could not mean more to me. She is there for me in school, through my leadership positions, as well as just being there for me during life. This is my reason why this cause is so dear to my heart.
After seeing what Mrs.Brodhead and her family, especially her son who is only a year younger than me, went through due to this horrible disease, I wanted to participate in this great cause and do everything I can to help her and others who are affected by Leukemia and/or Lymphoma (blood cancers).
I believe that doing something with your heart and having a reason behind what you're doing makes you so much more dedicated and gives you a reason to always send that extra email, organize that extra event, etc. My dedication for this cause comes from me hoping that with what our funds raised can advance research so much that people like Mrs.Brodhead never have to hear that she has cancer ever again, and that her husband never has to hear that his wife has cancer again, or her mom never has to hear that her child has cancer ever again, and especially so her son and daughter never have to hear that their mom has cancer again.
This is why this cause means so much to me. When thinking about donating I hope you consider how awful it would feel to not only be told that you have cancer but the feeling of your family member, son, daughter, husband, aunt, uncle, cousins, best friend, and so on being diagnosed with something that does not have a guaranteed cure.

Welcome to my fundraising page!!
I would greatly appreciate your support through my journey in raising funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to my fundraising campaign. Why should you support LLS? Well, LLS's mission work spans from investigating groundbreaking research to providing education to patients as well as advocating for them at the state and federal level in order to allow legislation to be passed that helps them live.
Once again, why should you donate to my LLS Student of the Year campaign? Well, your money will not only help find a cure for blood cancer, but it will also help in the field of finding a cure for cancer overall because the research that LLS funds help move groundbreaking research forward that can be used for many types of cancer. Need another reason, well approximately every three minutes someone in the United States is diagnosed with blood cancer. That means in, let's say two episodes of a TV show, twenty people, TWENTY PEOPLE, just like you and me, are diagnosed with blood cancer. During these same two episodes, about 6 people will die from blood cancer. Ok, one more. Leukemia is the second leading cause of death by cancer in children and adolescents under the age of twenty.
Blood cancer is serious and we need your help to find a cure.
My appreciation for your support can not be put into words. Every single dollar and every single cent brings us closer to our goal to end blood cancer. With this being said, every dollar and every cent also contributes to the positive impact that we can make on cancer patients and their family's lives.
Please visit my page as often as you can to share it with everyone you know who would also like to join us in the fight against cancer. Sharing is super important as I can only spread the message to everyone I know, but if everyone I know shares my page with everyone they know, our potential supporters grow exponentially. With this being said, please use your ability to share my link on Facebook, with coworkers, etc. as it is a completely free way to help find a cure for cancer. Please use your ability to share to help us all. All donations are tax-deductible.
Thank you so very much for your support!!
Beating cancer is in our blood.

My donation is in honor of my brother, Dan Shub, who survived Hopkins Disease 38 years ago. After his recovery, Dan committed himself to his health. He ran many marathons as well as the Hawaiian Ironman. At age 72 Dan completed a 25 mile open water swim from Vermont to Canada. In addition to being a remarkable athlete, Dan is one of the kindest people to ever grace this earth. Thank you, Lauren, for taking on this important cause. You are a special person and I am proud to be your grandmother.
