We are honored to participate as candidates for the 2020 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am proud to support LLS and am raising critical dollars in honor of young patient heroes who are currently battling or in remission from a blood cancer. Each dollar is a vote. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student of the Year. 

Our names are Kayla Best and Laura Bealer. We have been life-long best friends since we can remember and our motivation and drive has always been to go above and beyond to help others. We are seniors at Northampton Area High School, and both planning to continue our education in nursing school. The main reason we are running as a co-candidate team for this amazing campaign is because Laura was diagnosed with liver cancer (hepatoblastoma) when she was 3 years old, so this means a lot to us. Fortunately, she won the battle and has been cancer free ever since. With your help, those suffering from blood cancers can get the help and treatment they need, and one day be like Laura. 

GotCUREage was an idea that originated through our desires to remain courageous throughout our own life battles, and especially emphasize the importance of courage among the lives of those battling cancer, and the people supporting those individuals. We want everyone who supports our cause to be courageous with their own actions, and contribute to an amazing foundation like the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Any and all support for our campaign is seen as having courage for those who need it most, and that is the goal: giving courage to all children facing the toughest battle.

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
