Team's Student Visionaries of the Year Fundraiser
Welcome to our fundraising page! Our names are Coco Svindland, Janie du Pont, and Izze McIntosh and we are the student leaders of It's In Our Blood. It's In Our Blood is a team of many driven high school students from Tower Hill School, Ursuline Academy, Wilmington Friends School, Tatnall School, and Archmere Academy. Together, we have signed up with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to save lives, and we are working to raise as much money as possible over the next 7 weeks. We are running our campaign in honor of Coco’s grandfather, Arne Svindland, and our local honored hero, Emily Higgins.
Arne has been battling Chronic Myelomonocytic Leukemia (CMML) for five years. He has done multiple rounds of chemotherapy and stem cell injections, but there is no known cure to end his leukemia ultimately. He has always taught Coco to never give up, and seeing how hard he’s fighting against cancer, leaves us with a powerful legacy that we’re passionate about carrying on.
When Emily was three, she got diagnosed with Acute T-Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She went through treatment for two years and is now in remission! She is a fun, intelligent, and creative young girl who loves to read, color, and swim. She also wants to be a scientist when she grows up so that she can learn and help people. Emily’s bravery, resilience, and positive attitude motivate us daily to keep fighting!
Both Arne and Emily never let their health deter them from their goals nor diminish their spirit. We are so grateful that our team is able to honor them and continue their powerful legacy. Arne and Emily’s perseverance, even through the hardest times, have inspired us to fight for a future where no one fears the words, "You have cancer."
Through your support, we can help fund life-saving treatments for people all over the country, like Arne and Emily. Over the years, LLS funding has led to advancements in blood cancer treatments that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases, quadrupled the survival rate for blood cancer patients. Many LLS-supported therapies not only treat blood cancer patients, but are now also used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. And clinical trials are currently taking place to study the efficacy of these medicines in treating lung, brain, breast, pancreatic, and prostate cancers. LLS has also funded targeted therapies and immunotherapies that save thousands of lives every day. However, LLS’ reach extends beyond funding lifesaving research - LLS also provides patient and community services, advocacy, as well as public and professional education. For additional information about LLS, we welcome you to visit www.lls.org
Your contribution to our cause is greatly appreciated and is tax-deductible. On behalf of cancer patients everywhere, we thank you for your support!
