Welcome to Isabelle Hanlon's SOY Fundraising Page!
So excited to run my campaign with Briley Strine!
Student of the Year Introduction!
Hello all!!!
My name is Isabelle Hanlon. I am a junior at Archmere Academy, and I am so honored to announce that I have been nominated as Student of the Year through The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! This is a seven week campaign in which I, along with my team member, Briley Strine, will fundraise money that will all go towards funding research, and supporting families as they fight against this terrible disease.
This campaign is especially important to me, as I have personal connections to blood cancer. My first grade teacher, who also happens to be a close family friend, lost her husband to Leukemia around five years ago. Nobody was expecting such an amazing man to lose his fight this fast, but unfortunately, because of how invasive the disease is, it was too much to bare. In addition, one of my best friend's father was diagnosed six years ago with leukemia. He struggled for several months with how to balance his new lifestlyle out with going treatment while having four kids. Because of his strength, and the enromous support system he had following him every step of the way, he found a bone marrow doner, and overcame the disease. These two stories are what drive me to put in everything I possibly can to this campaign so not another wife will lose her husband or a daughter potentially lose her father.
I am so greatful for all of the amazing support I have been given thus far, and I encourage you today to join the fight against blood cancer. Many may not realize, but every three minutes somebody in the United States is diagnosed with a form of blood cancer. As this statistic has gradually improved over the past years, still every nine minutes someone loses their battle. Statistics such as this, encoruage me to spread the message to others in my community.
I thank you in advance for considering my campaign, and hopefully one day, we will live in a life that is cancer free!
Welcome to Isabelle Hanlon's SOY Fundraising Page!
I am honored to participate as a team member for the 2020 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am proud to support my candidate and am raising critical dollars in honor of a young patient hero who is currently battling or is in remission from a blood cancer. Each dollar is a vote. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.
Since the early 1960s, five-year survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled or even quadrupled. And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
We really are changing the face of blood cancer!
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
Please visit our website often and bring friends who would also like to donate!
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support!
