My name is Briley Strine. I am a junior at Archmere Academy, and I am so honored to participate as a candidate for the 2020 Students of the Year program. This is a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around Delaware participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society!!! Everyone in some way will be affected by cancer throughout their life at some point. My mission is to make an impact and difference in my community, to hopefully prevent a mother from losing their child, a husband from losing their wife or vice versa. Each dollar is a vote. The candidate team that raises the most money at the end of the seven weeks is named Student of the Year. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.

Every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer. Although, the survival rate is increasing- Every 9 minutes someone loses their battle. Statistics like these is what pushes me to be apart of the Leukemia and Lyphoma Society. Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients, but are helping patients with other cancers and serious diseases. In fact, drugs first approved for blood cancers are now approved to treat patients with stomach cancers, skin cancers, autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, and many more. LLS has had their hand in 37 of the 43 FDA approved drugs in the past year. Which really shows that they are making huge strides to achieve their goal of a cancer free world, and with your help we can continue to advance towards this goal.

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research, but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
