Dear Friends & Family, 

I’m very excited to share that I have been nominated to be a part of the 2022 Austin Students of the Year campaign! I have been given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join the battle to help those living with blood cancers.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Societys’ (LLS)  work is changing the lives of 1.2 million Americans living with blood cancer. 

I have created a team of committed friends and family to partner with me on this journey. Together, we have set a fundraising goal of raising $80,000! I am proud to lead my campaign team, The Fredericksburg Fighters, and over the next 2 weeks, we will be working to raise money and awareness for LLS and their mission to cure blood cancers. 

I have a very personal connection to this cause. In 2013, my maternal grandfather was diagnosed with multiple myeloma cancer, a form of blood cancer. He was given only 3 to 5 years to live. Because of intensive research and generous donors, my grandfather is still with us today. He has been part of many studies and trials at MD Anderson, and I truly believe that these have helped to prolong his life. With  today’s medical advances, my grandfather’s type of cancer is not curable, but it is at bay. I pray everyday that there will be a cure for cancer. But until then, I will do my very best to raise funds and awareness for cancer.

Our goal is to reach $80,000 between January 7th - February 26th, 2022. It’s a lofty goal--and I am willing to work hard to reach it!

But, I cannot do it alone. I need your help! 

Not only is this campaign a great way to support LLS and their life-saving work, but it’s a great leadership opportunity for me. Students receive scholarships based on our fundraising and awareness efforts. 

Your tax-deductible donation truly makes a difference, and, with your help, we’re one step closer to a cure for blood cancers. I am so excited to be able to make a difference to my community in this way!
