My daughter Naomi Vakil is participating in the “Student Visionaries of the Year” campaign. She’s worked towards this important cause since she was 5. 
Her personal goal is to raise $50,000 to support Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). 

LLS is a terrific nonprofit that is the largest voluntary cancer research agency specifically focused on finding cures and better treatments for blood cancer patients. LLS’ s also provides financial programs to help patients due to the high costs associated with cancer treatment.

This is her story:

Hi! I’m Naomi, and I am a Sophomore at Ridgefield High School. I am excited to be involved in the Student Visionaries of the Year program with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS)! I have been working with LLS since I was five years old, working bake sales at our local recreation center with my family. I later worked with my elementary school to raise awareness for the cause. Cancer became personal after my mom got diagnosed in 2015, she was fortunate to have been diagnosed at an early stage and receive treatment. But not everybody is as fortunate. I joined the Student Visionaries program to raise awareness and funds to support leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma research and patient care. The younger generations are so caught up in their busy schedules and plans, that I hope to get them involved and come together to make a difference.
