We, Caitlin Paier and Kate Koval, have been nominated as co-candidates for the 2021 Student of the Year campaign for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Inc. (LLS). This is a seven week program starting January 21, 2021, in which high school students across the country will be bringing awareness to LLS’s research, programs, and advocacy by raising critical funds to support their mission to cure blood cancers.  

LLS’s work is changing the lives of 1.2 million Americans living with blood cancer. In fact, the treatments that LLS is funding benefit all cancer patients. More than 40% of the new cancer treatment drugs approved by the FDA since 2004 started as blood cancer drugs, but are now being applied in other forms of cancer. We know so many people affected by not only blood cancer, but many other types of cancer as well. We have lost friends and family members to many different types of cancer, and we are leading this campaign in honor of them. 

There are many opportunities for you to support our campaign! If you interested in a sponsorship, then we would love to come in and share our ideas with you. If you are not interested in a sponsorship, then you can simply donate via our website or make a check payable to LLS with our team name, Rams For a Remedy Vol. 2, on the memo line. Additionally, we would greatly appreciate any further advocacy and support of my cause that you can provide, because our mission is to cure cancer and we need your help to do it! Beating cancer is in our blood, and we are determined to use my campaign to make a difference with your support.

If you are interested in meeting to discuss the details of my campaign, please respond with any dates and times that will work for you. Our schedule is very flexible and we can meet whenever it is most convenient for you. If an in-person meeting is not possible, we will be happy to arrange a time to discuss over the phone, email or zoom.
