Fiona Bruder | Bronwyn Beats the Battle
Fiona's Students of the Year Fundraiser
My daughter Bronwyn was recently nominated as a candidate for Student of the Year for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). She was nominated by last year's Student of the Year in Pleasantville and one of her teachers. Anyone that knows my daughter knows why...she is active in driving change, standing up for those that can not stand up for themselves and supporting causes that are near and dear to her. And when she commits to something she is in....ALL IN. I am excited to partner with her campaign team and work with her, her friends, family members, and teachers to support this worthy cause.
As you know, everyone wins when cancer loses. I, like most people have been affected by cancer throughout my life. I lost my grandmother and dearest aunt to breast cancer and my world was crushed when the doctor told me my mom had a 15% survival rate...close to 30 years later and she is still going strong. I myself, when my Bronwyn was only 6 weeks old found out I had melanoma. I survived solely because it was caught early. I could have left behind my husband, 3 year old son and 6 week daughter. This is why ending Leukemia and Lymphoma and any type of cancer is so important to me.
Thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers! All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible.
Please visit my website often and tell friends who would also like to donate! Every dollar raised counts as one vote for our campaign. The candidate(s) whose team tallies the most votes earns the prestigious title of Student or Students of the Year. The actual title does not mean much to Bronwyn but it symbolizes that she was successful in raising funds to eradicate blood cancer.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your support! For more information about LLS, please visit www.lls.org
In gratitude....Fiona
