Students of the Year Campaign
Dear Friends and Family,
Approximately every 3 minutes, one person in the US is diagnosed with a form of blood cancer. Every year, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) holds a “Students of the Year'' fundraising challenge to raise awareness and funds to help those affected by these life-threatening diseases. This year, we have been given the opportunity to take on the challenge and make an impact in our community. We are carrying on the legacy of LLS candidates at White Plains High School and hope to follow our peers in leading a successful campaign in the White Plains community. We hope to raise as much money as possible over these 7 weeks and we need all of the support we can get!
But first, let us tell you all about how the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society makes a difference and how you can as well. Since 1949, LLS has raised over 1.3 billion dollars for blood cancer research. In addition, LLS lends support to those battling these cancers and is dedicated to impacting the lives of these patients. In one way or another, everyone has been affected by cancer, whether it is a family member, a friend, or coworker. Supporting LLS will not only help us in reaching our fundraising goal, but will contribute to a cancer-free world.
By leading this campaign, we hope to unite our community and help cancer patients. While each story is moving, our honoree of this year's Student of the Year campaign is Connor Amrstrong. Diagnosed with Leukemia in 2013, Connor successfully beat his disease and has been out of treatment for almost five years. With strong support and determined strength, Connor survived one of the most arduous diseases. Today, Connor is a healthy 14-year-old boy who is able to do what he loves such as dancing, acting, and music.
Supporting our campaign would help to better the lives of those such as Connor. To donate online, please visit our fundraising webpage, https://events.lls.org/ctwhv/ctwhvsoy22/dsavesthed. If you would prefer to mail your donation, please use the enclosed donation slip and pre-addressed envelope. Please make your check payable to: LLS and print “Team Double A Saves the Day” in the “Memo” section. The deadline for receiving contributions is March 11th 2022. Please note: your donations are tax deductible. Aside from donations, we would love to hear from you or someone you know who would be willing to donate goods or services for auction items, sponsorships, ads, or other possible fundraising opportunities. Large or small, your contribution to this worthy effort will be greatly appreciated.
Help be part of the cure and help our team compete in the 2022 Students of the Year campaign.
