Team - Kerry's Heroes
Dear Friends and Family,
A little known fact about myself is the origin of my name, I am named for my aunt Kerry, my Mom's sister who passed away at the tender age of 18, after a long fight with cancer. Knowing there was someone so vibrant and funny who shares your name and who you never got to meet is a jarring thing. During her treatment, medicine was still primative, and she didn't even get diagnosed for an extended period of time. More recently, my Grandmother has struggled with both hodgkins and non hodgkins lymphoma. She is luckier than my aunt, and her remission is a testament to the incredible medical advances discovered in the intervening time period. Survival rates for many blood cancer patients have increased exponentially, and treatments developed for blood cancers are being tested in clinical trials to help treat a range of other cancers. This personal connection, one I'm sure we all have in some way, coupled with a devotion to service, helped lead me to a great program run by the organization that has made all these advances possible. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has been on the front lines of the war on cancer, and I am happy to announce I am joining them in the trenches as a candidate in the 2018 Students of the Year program, a seven-week initiative in which select high school students from around the country participate in a fundraising competition to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I am raising critical dollars in honor of a young patient hero who is currently battling or is in remission from a blood cancer, and for the larger war on cancer. Each dollar is a vote. If I and my team raise the most money at the end of the seven weeks I will receive the honor to be named Student of the Year. My mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.
Your donation counts towards eradicating cancer!
All donations are emphatically appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll fund a variety of patient centered programs, chiefly research, but also co-pay assistance for costly drugs, increased awareness about these diseases and advocacy for laws that will help get patients the assistance we need.
Please visit my website often, share it, and bring friends who would also like to donate! On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere I thank you for your support!
PLEASE HELP OUT AND DONATE!!!
