Dear Family and Friends,

Do you feel like you are truly making a difference in others’ lives who are not as fortunate as you? Often times we don’t realize how easy we have it until we see someone suffering from a sickness, specifically the effects of cancer. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society helped advance 19 of 21 FDA approved blood cancer treatments in 2018, along with providing free educational resources and programs for patients suffering from leukemia and lymphoma. Each day, 156 people die from blood cancer… After we were informed about the awful effects of blood cancers, we were interested in finding a way to help.

Our team, “Strike out Cancer,” is excited to have been nominated as a 2020 Student of the Year candidate team for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Students of the Year is a philanthropic leadership development program during which high school students utilize skills such as entrepreneurship, marketing, and project management. This program is a seven-week campaign that runs from January 23 - March 12, 2020! The goal of this campaign is to raise funds during the seven-week period, and if our team raises the largest amount in the Westchester area, we are awarded the title of “Students of the Year.”

We are working very hard to reach our fundraising goal of $50,000. In order to reach our goal, we need you! We are writing to you today to ask for the support of our team, Strike Out Cancer, Here are a few other ways to get involved:

1. Share our message & fundraising link above with your contacts via email or social media
2. Donate a silent auction item that can be used for the Grand Finale Gala
3. Help us secure corporate sponsorships (Sponsorships start at $3,500 and sponsors receive Gala benefits)

So why are we contributing to this society, and more importantly, why should you? From 2011 to 2015, leukemia was the sixth most common cause of cancer deaths in both men and women in the US. The treatment development for blood cancers is now helping people affected by many different types of cancer. It is crucial that you donate to this cause because through our campaign every donation counts.
