The Fight's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Jan 16, 2021

Dear Friends & Family,

I want you to imagine hearing the three words, “You have cancer.”

Sadly, this has been a reality for more than 1.3 million Americans who are fighting or are in remission from blood cancer. Almost every high school student wants the chance to partake in something that will change the world; in 2021, I will have that chance.

I am very excited to share with you that Annalisa Bio and myself (along with our team – The Fight is in our Blood) are participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Students of the Year program. Students of the Year is a 7-week philanthropic competition for high school leaders seeking to make an impact in the fight against cancer. This cause is incredibly important to me because blood cancer, specifically leukemia, is the most commonly diagnosed form of cancer in children and young adults

My personal connection to cancer is through my uncle.  As a young father of two children, my Uncle David was diagnosed with sarcoma.  He underwent surgeries to remove the tumor in his thigh muscle, and when it traveled to his lungs, he endured another surgery to remove that tumor.  Enduring intensive chemotherapy and radiation provided him with brief periods of remission, but ultimately this cancer took the life of my uncle when he was in the prime of his life.  His loss is still felt by his wife, his children, and all those whose lives he touched as a compassionate physician.  My uncle is a reminder of how important it is to continue to invest in cancer research, and is serving as my inspiration over this seven-week journey.

The Fight is in our Blood’s fundraising goal is to raise $350,000.00, between January 14th and February 26th. It is a lofty goal, but I am determined to leave my mark on the fight against cancer to the best of my ability. I cannot achieve my goal alone, though; I need your help. There are a few ways you can support my fundraising efforts:

*Make a tax-deductible donation to my online fundraising page: https://events.lls.org/cran/trentonsoy21/bdepasqual

*Share my message & fundraising link with your contacts via email or social media

*Donate a silent auction item for the Grand Finale Celebration auction

*Help me secure a corporate sponsorship (Sponsorships start at $5,000, and sponsors receive Grand Finale benefits)

Not only is Students of the Year a great way to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), but it is also a great leadership experience for me. Being part of this campaign means so much to me, and I am proud to help my generation be the last to see cancer.

I can’t wait to share the exciting updates of the next seven weeks with you. Stay tuned to see what my team and I can accomplish.

Thank you for your support,

Bianca DePasquale

Dear Friends & Family,

I want you to imagine hearing the three words, “You have cancer.”

Sadly, this has been a reality for more than 1.3 million Americans who are fighting or are in remission from blood cancer. Almost every high school student wants the chance to partake in something that will change the world; in 2021, I will have that chance.

I am very excited to share with you that myself and Bianca DePasquale, (along with our team – The Fight is in our Blood) are participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Students of the Year program. Students of the Year is a 7-week philanthropic competition for high school leaders seeking to make an impact in the fight against cancer. This cause is incredibly important to me because blood cancer, specifically leukemia, is the most commonly diagnosed form of cancer in children and young adults

Although some people have never experienced the suffering of losing a loved one to cancer, we can all imagine how unbearable the pain is.  Similar to my teammate Bianca, I have had two family members pass away from cancer.  Both my grandfathers have undergone the harsh stages of this disease.  At age 68, living a healthy lifestyle, my grandfather was diagnosed with glioblastoma.  To all those who loved him, this was heartbreaking news because we knew the type of cancer was extremely aggressive and there was nothing we could do to help.  This followed with various treatments and surgeries, resulting in his experiencing unimaginable pain.  Two years later, at the age of 70, he passed away, leaving five children, a wife, and many loved ones behind.  My grandfather’s story is what motivated me to take part in this incredible program, and I hope it serves as an indication to all of us how meaningful every dollar is to support new funding for a cure.

The Fight is in our Blood’s fundraising goal is to raise $350,000.00, between January 14th and February 26th. It is a lofty goal, but I am determined to leave my mark on the fight against cancer to the best of my ability. I cannot achieve my goal alone, though; I need your help. The Fight's Students of the Year Fundraiser

Nov 09, 2020

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page, welcome!

I encourage you to join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to my fundraising campaign. By donating to LLS, you support the many facets of LLS’s mission work from investing in groundbreaking research, providing education and support to patients, and advocating at the state and federal level for legislation to help those living with cancer. My appreciation for your support cannot be overstated — each and every dollar donated to LLS brings us closer to our goal to end blood cancer and makes an impact for cancer patients and their families.

As a global leader in the fight to end cancer, LLS is committed to doing more for blood cancer patients and families than any organization in the world. LLS’s signature fundraising campaigns drive critical support for its mission, including a nearly $1.3 billion investment in cutting edge cancer research worldwide since it was founded in 1949. Since the 1960s, survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled, or even quadrupled.

Every facet of LLS’s mission – research, education and support, and policy and advocacy – work in harmony to put blood cancer patients and their families first. LLS has helped millions impacted by cancer throughout its more than 70-year history, even funding breakthrough blood cancer research to advance lifesaving treatments and cures that is now helping patients with other cancers and diseases. That is why at LLS we say that beating cancer is in our blood.

Please visit my website as often as you can and share it with everyone you know who would also like to join us in the fight against cancer. Together, we have the power, the passion and the resolve to achieve a world without blood cancer. All donations are tax-deductible.

On behalf of cancer patients and their families everywhere, I sincerely thank you for your support!
