Welcome to Grace Blauvelt's SOY Fundraising Page!

Jan 15, 2021

Hello everyone!

My name is Grace Blauvelt, and I am currently a junior at Villa Walsh Academy in Morristown, New Jersey. I have been nominated by Aidan Philbrick and accepted as a candidate for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's 2021 New Jersey Students of the Year Program. I am absolutely honored to be able to participiate in this incredible opportunity!

The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life for patients and their families. Leukemia is the #1 most diagnosed form of childhood cancer, as every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer. LLS has invested approximately $1.3 billion in order to find a cure, and they have allowed more than 30,000 people to have access to free information, support services, and financial assistance last year. I am thrilled to be able to support such an important cause.

Although I have not been directly impacted by a loved one's diagnosis of blood cancer, I have lost multiple family members to alternative types of cancer. My mom, Kristen, was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer two years after I was born. I am beyond thankful to say that the level of cancer which she had was not lifethreatening, and due to the exceptional treatment that she was provided with, she is healthy today. I hope that overcoming cancer can be this successful for others as well. Additionally, in 2017, my grandfather was suddenly diagnosed with Signet Ring Lung Cancer and passed away just weeks later. This came to my family's surprise, as he was such a strong and active man. I have many other friends and members of my family who have battled cancer, and while they have not necessarily been affected by blood cancer, it has had a huge impact on me.

I want to fight for the lives of those who are not able to fight for themselves. Cancer has become so common in our world today that we sometimes forget the tragedies and catastrophes that so many individuals and families have to face. I never want anyone to have to let go of someone that they love and cherish so deeply because of such a devastating disease. By standing with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and raising money through the Students of the Year Program, I hope that this can be prevented and fewer families will have to face this eternal hardship.

LLS is saving the lives of so many innocent individuals, and today, we have the opportunity to help them by supporting the cause. Cancer may have started the fight, but we will finish it.

Thank you so much for taking time to read about the new journey that I am so excited to be a part of. Every donation is so greatly appreciated, and I could not be more grateful for your support.

Lets come together and end cancer once and for all! Thank you again.

With love,

Grace Blauvelt

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page, welcome!

I encourage you to join me in supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) by making a donation to my fundraising campaign. By donating to LLS, you support the many facets of LLS’s mission work from investing in groundbreaking research, providing education and support to patients, and advocating at the state and federal level for legislation to help those living with cancer. My appreciation for your support cannot be overstated — each and every dollar donated to LLS brings us closer to our goal to end blood cancer and makes an impact for cancer patients and their families.

As a global leader in the fight to end cancer, LLS is committed to doing more for blood cancer patients and families than any organization in the world. LLS’s signature fundraising campaigns drive critical support for its mission, including a nearly $1.3 billion investment in cutting edge cancer research worldwide since it was founded in 1949. Since the 1960s, survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled, or even quadrupled.

Every facet of LLS’s mission – research, education and support, and policy and advocacy – work in harmony to put blood cancer patients and their families first. LLS has helped millions impacted by cancer throughout its more than 70-year history, even funding breakthrough blood cancer research to advance lifesaving treatments and cures that is now helping patients with other cancers and diseases. That is why at LLS we say that beating cancer is in our blood.

Please visit my website as often as you can and share it with everyone you know who would also like to join us in the fight against cancer. Together, we have the power, the passion and the resolve to achieve a world without blood cancer. All donations are tax-deductible.

On behalf of cancer patients and their families everywhere, I sincerely thank you for your support!

My cousin's daughter, Grace Blauvelt, brought the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to our attention through a fundraiser she is doing for LLS 2021 New Jersey Student of the Year Campaign. My husband's best friend died of leukemia at age 22 and my brother-in-law and my best friend's Mom both had a form of lymphoma and survived. Modern medicine is an amazing thing for helping the disease, but have we asked ourselves, "What causes these diseases?" Our research has found that most diseases are caused by the food and beverages we eat and drink, along with environmental toxins. We might think we inherited a disease from our parent, myself included with colon trouble, but what we inherited was their way of eating and drinking. So, although advanced medicine is necessary, let's try to get to the root causes of these diseases and prevent them before they begins! Good luck, Grace!
