As a visionary, I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.

My name is Quinn McNany and I am a junior at Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child in Summit, New Jersey. I’m proud to be working with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign because their mission aligns deeply with my belief in making a difference in people’s lives and their work inspires me to take action and impact the world in any way that I can. 

In my personal life, I have had many family members affected by cancer. My cousin was diagnosed with leukemia at age four and because of advances in blood cancer treatment has been in remission from cancer for seventeen years! Sadly, just this past October I lost my grandmother too soon due to complications associated with the chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer. Both of my parents have lost beloved aunts and uncles to the disease.

Without the countless doctors, hospital staff, resources, operations, and advances in research, my cousin's journey would have looked very different from what he experienced and the outcome he was blessed to have. Unfortunately, there are people all over the world who are diagnosed with cancer who don't have the resources they need whether it is access to doctors, affording operations, recovering in a healthy environment, or even a support system. LLS works to provide these to countless families and much more. Not only do they improve the conditions of patients, but they also raise funds for research, educate others, and advocate through their network.
