Welcome To My Fundraising Page!

I have been nominated as a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Students of the Year campaign. For seven weeks, starting on January 12th, high school students like myself will be raising awareness of the research, programs, and advocacy being conducted through LLS in addition to funds to support their mission to cure blood cancers. Team Mary’s Mission and I will be competing against other teams around North Jersey and will be working hard to reach our goal of $25,000. In order for us to reach our goal, we need you!

You may ask, why have I decided to participate in this program? The evils of cancer have affected almost every person in the world, either directly or through a loved one. Although not blood cancer, I am running to honor the memory of my Nana, Patty Bowers, who passed away of ovarian cancer 3 years ago. My nana was one of the most influential people in my life and did not deserve to die of cancer. If she were still here, I know she would be proud of me for becoming a student of the year and would want to help in every way possible. I am also running for Brian Fleury. Mr. Fleury was a man who touched every person blessed enough to have known him. A husband, father, coach, and friend to all, Brian Fleury was taken from this world too quickly. Even though I don’t have a vivid memory of him, the stories and lessons my dad told me about him are something I will always keep with me. I owe it to Brian, Patty, and every person taken by cancer to participate in a fundraising campaign like this one. 

Many LLS-supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic, and prostate cancers. And LLS-funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
 
We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
