I have accepted the nomination to be a candidate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Students of the Year fundraising campaign.  The campaign runs from its kickoff on January 12th, 2022 through March 3rd 2022. My goal is to raise $15,000 across these few weeks .

            I am asking for your support of my fundraising campaign to help LLS in its efforts to find a cure for blood cancers and to assist patients and families as they battle these diseases. LLS is uniquely able to report on the many advances and accomplishments that have occurred since their founding in 1949. From cutting-edge research and precision medicine innovations to legislative victories that improve access to therapies for cancer patients, LLS plays a leading – and often pioneering – role in the fight against blood cancers.  Since 2000, approximately 40 percent of all U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) approved cancer drugs were for blood cancer, and some are now used to treat other forms of cancer and non-malignant diseases. 

         We all know people who are suffering with or have even died from cancer. I myself lost my grandmother long before I was born to cancer. A “win” for blood cancers, therefore, is a win for the cancer community overall. Imagine if you and I can make sure that no one else grows up without knowing or forever missing the love of a grandparent, parent, sibling, or friend. 

         I am supporting LLS and have accepted the nomination to be a LLS Student of the Year and fundraiser for this organization because Leukemia and Lymphoma affect so many lives, especially the lives of children. Leukemia is the most diagnosed cancer for children. It is a goal of mine to change the quality of life for those diagnosed with blood cancers. Imagine how many lives we can change if we do it together!  It would feel awesome knowing that you and I are making a difference in the world, one life at a time. 
       With your support, and the continued collaboration among researchers, doctors, advocacy organizations, pharmaceutical companies, regulators and patients, we are well on our way to making someday TODAY!
