Welcome to Mia Rothman's SOY Fundraising Page!
Students of the Year is a philanthropic leadership development program for exemplary high school students from across Central Pennsylvania. For seven weeks, myself and my fellow teammates are tasked to utlize our professional skills such as entrepreneaurship, marketing, and project management in order to motivate our communities to invest in the mission of LLS. I am honored to be a part of this team to raise funds and awareness for the hundreds of patients in Central PA living with blood cancer.
In the last year, LLS has become near and dear to my heart after a close family member of mine was diagnosed with Lymphoma. Watching someone suffer from cancer is something no one should ever have to witness and even worse experience themselves. I felt helpless as I watched a strong man suffer. This is a man who has always supported his family, his business and his community with his hard work and generosity.
This campaign allows me to have power to fight back against something that has caused so much pain. I decided I have to do something drastic. I am stepping out of my comfort zone by leading this campaign in honor of him - but also to find a cure for Lymphoma.
By supporting LLS you are donating money that will be used for research funds, education, patient services as well as helping for advocacy for those who are suffering. I have just seven weeks to raise my goal of $70,000 through special events, personal contributions and business contributions.
LLS's continued advancements over the years, are responsible for the blood cancer survival rate doubling and tripling; in some cases, the survival rate has even quadrupled.
And many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers. They're even being tested in clinical trials for patients with a range of cancers including lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. LLS funded drugs are now being tested for patients with other non-cancerous diseases like Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Multiple Sclerosis.
Upcoming Events:
Twin Ponds Ice Skating Event: January 27th 5:30-7:00
Ride For LLS at H2L: Febuary 4th 2:00
We really are changing the face of blood cancer! Please take a minute to watch the video below to learn how!
All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS research but patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services as well. If you would prefer to mail your donation, please make your check payable to: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and print “Mia Rothman” in the “Memo” section. Checks can be mailed to: the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 101 Erford Rd, Suite 201, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
Please visit my Students of the Year Team Member website often and bring friends who would also like to donate! With your help we can make sure that our patients are living long and healthy lives.
On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere I thank you for your support!

Thank you Mia for taking this on. I ran for Woman of the Year several years back so I know all the hard work that goes into it. I lost my father and a cousin at a very young age to this ugly disease. It's a great fundraiser! Be proud of your efforts and good luck getting to your goal!! All the best!
