My name is Brandon Choung and I am a current senior at Dublin Jerome High School. I have been given the opportunity of a lifetime to help the 1.2 million Americans who are living with a blood cancer. Each year, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Central Ohio Chapter launches its Students of the Year fundraising campaign. This year, I was nominated to run as a candidate in the 2020 campaign, and will be leading team Lads Against Leukemia & Lymphoma in the fight against blood cancer.

I am proud to have been nominated as a Student of the Year by Jim and Lisa Knox.  I wanted to participate in the Student of the Year program to honor Thomas Knox and my parents. Thomas was a travel hockey teammate and close friend.  Sadly, Thomas unexpectedly passed away shortly into his freshman year of high school. His life has inspired me to serve others. In addition, I wish to honor my mother and father, who have had to deal with and overcome breast cancer and a kidney transplant, respectively. Through their experiences, I have learned the importance and impact that medical research can provide to their health and to the health of many others.

Each dollar is a vote. Our mission is to not only raise the most money but also to bring attention to blood cancers like leukemia, which is the most common form of cancer in children and teens.

All donations are greatly appreciated and are tax deductible. They'll not only support LLS-funded research but will help provide critical information and support for patients, and support advocacy for laws to ensure patients can access the care and treatments they need.
