I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help.

This year, I’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission.

When someone in the falls into a state of despair from chronic disease or cancer, it’s as if the world stops and changes permanently. It’s as if they stop smiling as much as they used to, and the world starts to revolve around getting their treatment rather than getting to go eat out. And it’s not only the patient that feels pain; it’s also the relatives of the patient that struggle to keep their hopes up for their future together with them. It hurts. But medicine has the power to change that. Medicine has the potential to heal and restore those that wouldn’t have had hope. In my eyes, medical professionals have harnessed the craft of bringing a change for the better. I want to be a part of that. I want to be a part of society that brings hope, a change for the better. This is my why: the “why” of why I am in full pursuit of achieving a career in medicine, and why I'm choosing to be apart of the Student Visionaries of the Year Program to raise money for cancer patient education and support.

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

• Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
• Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
• Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
