Marina Roe | Fighting for Families
Marina's Student Visionaries of the Year Chicago Fundraiser
My name is Marina Roe and I am a junior at Prospect High School.
My family knows first hand how difficult the fight against cancer can be. My aunt, grandmother and grandfather and many others have gone through the fight, and I want to help others struggling through this difficult fight. I lost my grandmother to acute leukemia early last year. (Pictured to the above) I remember seeing her struggle to continute especially when she had to go through countless blood transfusions. It was heartbreaking for my family to watch her struggle and to be unable to help her except by being by her side. I couldn't even imagine what it would be like for a family to go through it with their child.
When Mary asked me to join her team, I knew I had to say yes. If there is even a slight chance I can help the search for a cure, I knew I had to take it.
While I'm in many activities, robotics, band, show jumping, this one is the one that is closest to my heart. If there is one part of my life that I could ask those around me to support, this cause would be it.
I'm glad you have decided to join me in the search for The Answer to Cancer.
Thank you,
Marina Roe
